Review #97: Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

Paranormalcy is the first in the Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White. Yet another Goodreads treatment book:

Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter, and she's the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie's dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

This book is so much fun. I don't think I've had such pure, unadulterated fun reading a book in a while. This book was quick, fast paced, action packed, and like I said, pure fun. I literally read this in one day, it was that good. I loved the idea of the IPCA, Evie's life, her interactions with Lend, everything. That ending also was just pure candy, I ate it up!

Evie was such a great character. I loved figuring everything out with her, falling for Lend with her, watching her grow, etc. I feel we'd be great friends in real life, especially since we both have odd fashion senses :). She also was funny. I literally was laughing out loud a lot from what she said. I also loved her best friend Alisha. The running "bleep" thing was one of the funniest things about this book, just bleeping awesome. Plus Lish was loyal, caring, and sweet. If she were human and existed in real life, she, Evie and I could hang out. Then there's Lend. Of course, another sexy guy who was sweet, smart, and heart-melting. I loved him so much, and I am rooting so hard for him and Evie as a couple. Now about Reth, oh Reth. Frankly, he scared the sh()t out of me. Every time he appeared, a very real chill ran up and down my spine. That fairie was so damn frightening. *shudders*

Wow, Ms. White knows how to write a brilliant book! She built her world beautifully, her characters just as well written. I can not wait to read Supernaturally, the second book in the series.

I'll next be doing a Bad Book Round-Up sadly.

Until next time, viva la literature!
